Tudor historian Helen Franklin is horrified when her dying scientist father leaves her a most unusual inheritance Anne Boleyn. Yep, Anne Boleyn as in Henry VIII's beheaded queen. She is a time traveler and is having trouble adjusting to the modern world. Helen tells herself she does not have time for Anne. Yalia, Helen's wife, has been distancing herself from Helen for three years, and Helen needs to decide if she wants to save their marriage.
Then the unexpected happens. A romantic relationship develops among Yalia, Anne and Helen. Can the three of them figure out their lives together, especially when time might be running out for Anne?

When I first read the blurb for this book I had my doubts. As imaginative as the author is I wasn't sure she could bring off a story with a lead character that travels through time and becomes involved in a relationship with a married couple (lesbian) on the brink of divorce. I shouldn't have worried. Q, Kelly does a great job of making the premise plausible.Helen Franklin and Yalia Yamato are deeply in love but their relationship is dying as a result of a trauma in Yalia's past. Helen is also experiencing a trauma with the death of her father and the discovery of what had been his life's work. It is this unwelcome discovery that brings our time traveler Anne into their lives.
Anne had been a chattel to men in her time period and with the kindness of Helen and Yalia she blossoms into her own person. She finds she has feelings for both of these women and while they recognize that she has been damaged by her past she is able to see that they too have been wounded and it is the vulnerabilities of the three women that bring them together.
The way the characters work out their feelings and handle the repercussions of travelling through time while dealing with a man who wants to control their destiny makes for a satisfying read.

Third Q Kelly 9781469942209 Books Reviews
The concept behind this book is original-using time travel to bring historical figures into the modern world. However, it falls short of the promise of the concept and devolves into a predictable lesbian romance story. The author clearly has some creative talent, but her story telling could have been better developed.
Ann,Helen,Yalia.
Each is beautiful in her own way.
Each has some serious regrets.
You would never guess what brings these 3 women to know each other.
It's fascinating and scintillating and makes me wonder what I would change in my own history if I could.
Q.Kelly has the ability to write about situations that are just a little "twisted" or maybe that's the wrong word.
Her stories have an edge to them that might be off putting at first but then you find yourself totally intrigued, not sleeping so good because you keep turning on the light and reading some more.
I was only curious about this story until I read "maf6355"s review here on .
Hope my 5 stars helps you decide to read this book.
Thanks ,Q.Kelly.

And it started out really strong. I actually thought going into it that the writing was solid and the story was engaging...then it kind of fell flat. The author seemed to get confused with the character's individual voices and it made their personalities hard to follow. I lost interest in all three of the women and their relationship by the end. Which was sad because initially I liked them very much. There was also something super campy and contrived about three femme lesbians completing each other but also wanting to randomly walk around "packing". Overall I think this author has a lot of potential but maybe needs to find their real voice when it comes to creating genuine characters instead of characters that feel like they were created to please the masses. If this author continues to grow and expand with her unique plot ideas and steps away from the too cheesy (often pointless) lesbian romps I will read more of her work in the future.
Third. After having read Strange Bedfellows and finding it entertaining, I thought I would give this one a read after seeing some of the other readers' remarks, and a recommendation from a friend. The price was right, so if it were a bust I wouldn't feel stiffed.
Romance in my view is a relationship between two individuals and not three. But this book had a convincing storyline that involved three individuals all falling in love with one another.
The characters are depicted very well and came across as authentic. The character of Anne is one from the pages of history and how she ends up in modern times is an adventure. The flashbacks into her life were interesting and to me the author Imparted the flavor and atmosphere of her time very well.
How this story is written made me believe that in real life this type of relationship might work for some women. If you want something different from the ordinary lesbian romance, and that will make you think about love in a different light, I recommend you read this book.
The most helpful thing I could say about this book is that it's interesting. The plot thread of time travel (and the moral quandaries it creates) was well done. Each of the characters was equally developed, and the romance didn't overtake the entire book. It was an essential part of the book, but not the whole.
I liked each of the characters and I was interested in their relationship dynamics. I also appreciated how the invention of time travel meant something different to each character. In short, I really dug this book.
So why only three stars? Well, I just didn't enjoy reading as much as I wanted to. The narrative was so stiff, as if I was being lectured by the author, instead of going on a journey with the protagonists. I felt I was reading a dissertation on polyamory, instead of experiencing the passion of the three women involved. It didn't flow naturally for me and felt awkward. I wanted to be overwhelmed by emotion and awed by the coolness of the science fiction elements. And even though I enjoyed this book, I was neither overwhelmed nor awed.
But it was still a fun and interesting book to read.
